Gravel Driveways
Setting up a gravel driveway can be as simple or complex as you would like to be. It can also be as cheap or as expensive as you would like to make it. If you want to make a simple driveway you could potentially just go ahead and find gravel even for free from a construction site or something and pour onto land that has ideally been previously compressed and smoothened out. Then just basically rake the gravel to leave it as smooth as can be. Of course, this is usually not the type of project that we are going to want to be involved in. On the contrary, gravel driveways can allow you to really make a unique design and even fashion statement within your home.
The Type of Gravel That You Are Going To Be Using Can Dictate A Lot The result that you are going to get by using gravel that you can find at a construction site, is nowhere near the type of result that you could get using red pebbles. Yet, the process that is going to go into creating these two hypothetical driveways is going to be pretty similar. You have a bed of sand or dirt that you are going to be pouring gravel or pebbles over and you are going to be smoothening everything out. We can help you decide which type of gravel would really fit your needs best. Tarmac or Gravel Since we made the comparison on the tarmac page it is only fair that we talk about the other side of the argument. As was mentioned before gravel can be much less expensive. The type of finish that you can get from gravel or even certain types of pebbles could give your driveway a more formal and even majestic look. That is one of the other reasons why we don’t rule out any type of driveway. Main Benefits of Gravel Driveways One of the main benefits is the fact that it is basically easy to set up. If you are looking for a quick road for example, near a farmhouse or whatever it may be, it is going to be a lot easier to create a gravel path than maybe a tarmac path. Obviously, it is going to tend to cost a lot less than most of the other options that are talked about on the site. Will, it require more maintenance? Yes, there is some truth to that, but you can essentially lay a new road or driveway every year without it being overly time consuming or costly if you wanted to! Gravel Driveway Life Span We sort of alluded to this in the last paragraph. You can essentially make a gravel road or driveway last for as long as you want it to last. Yet, it is going to need some care and to put more gravel in and preferably compress it from time to time. If you do this maybe once a year once every two years you can keep going. |
